Bruktawit (Tawi) Mekonnen is an Ethiopian choreographer, dancer, and student at the University of Maryland where she studies Dance! She started her dance journey during her freshman year of high school and completely fell in love with the craft, deciding to continue her dance development into college. She has studied and trained in contemporary, modern, jazz, and hip-hop and has always had an affinity to improvise which grew her love for choreographing. She is the artistic director of a dance group at UMD, The PrimaDolls, and has created works presented by the Student Dance Association. She isaffiliated with the theatre, dance, and performance studies department as well.
